Missing Man's Remains Identified After Over a Year
A grim discovery was made on December 20, 2024, when human bones were unearthed below the Drachenfels plateau in Bonn, Germany. The remains were found to belong to a 26-year-old man from Cologne who had gone missing on July 4, 2024, and was reported missing a few days later.
The nearly complete human skeleton was recovered during two search operations on December 20 and 21, 2024, with the support of the Bonn fire department. Forensic medicine examinations suggest that the man's death was likely due to a fall-related incident.

On January 17, 2025, the remains were identified through a DNA test. The deceased turned out to be a man who was killed on February 13, 2008, and was linked to a long-unsolved murder series in Sontheim. His skull was recently found in a garden there, while the rest of his body was discovered in South Tyrol in 2008. The last known time he was seen would be before his murder in 2008.
